Prof. Ian Dowman
President, International Society for
Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS)
Ian Dowman has spent most of his career working at University College London as Professor of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing, initially carrying out research with aerial and close range photography, but moving towards an interest in the application of digital aerial and satellite data to mapping. He has been a principal investigator for SPOT, ERS, JERS and RADASAT. His areas of expertise include Mapping production, Remote Sensing and Data capture. His current research involves automatic feature extraction, terrain mapping and the geometric fusion of different types of data. Ian Dowman has been involved in ISPRS for many years as a Working Group chair, Commission President and Secretary General, and is now President of ISPRS.
