Iraq has decided to set up a Remote Sensing center, the first of its kind in the country's history. Sameer Al Attar, general director of aviation and space department in the Iraqi Ministry of Science and Technology, said the center would have a great importance in providing data and studies needed for searching and excavation.

The center can provide space photographs and data for any region. He also pointed out that the aviation and space department, had a big role in many fields, such as environmental pollution and studying lands.
